On the morning of October 30, President Liu Li met with Mohammed Ibrahim, Executive Vice President of the Confucius Institute in Islamabad, Pakistan, Zhang Daoxian, the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute.
President Liu Li welcomed Pakistani guests and asked about the recent development of the Confucius Institute in Islamabad, the status of teachers and the number of students. President Liu Li emphasized that the friendship between China and Pakistan had existed for a long time and he hoped Islamabad Confucius Institute can reach a higher level by taking the opportunity of constructing the economic corridor of CMB and the strategy of "the Belt and Road" and he expressed his willingness to provide support for the development of Confucius Institute.
The Confucius Institute in Islamabad, Pakistan was founded in April 2005 by Hanban, Beijing Language and Culture University and Pakistan's National Modern Languages University, and it was the first Confucius Institute in the Islamic world. It had won the "Advanced Confucius Institute" four times and won twice "Advanced Individual" awards. It was named "Model Confucius Institute" in 2015 and had now become an important platform for Pakistani Chinese Language and Cultural Exchange Center, Chinese Language Proficiency Test Center, Chinese Teacher Training Center and the non-governmental exchange between China and Pakistan.
