On the afternoon of November 9, the 2018 “Chinese Bridge-US Presidents’ Visit to China” hosted by Beijing Language and Culture University and co-sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/National Hanban Office and the US University Council ended successfully in BLCU.

In his closing speech, President Liu Li said that BLCU, as the only international university in China that provides Chinese language education and Chinese culture education to foreign students in China, has repeatedly undertaken the pre-job and in-job training of volunteers from Confucius Institute to the United States to help Chinese teaching in the United States. President Liu Li said that youth is the future of Sino-US relations, and BLCU is working hard to strengthen cooperation with Confucius Institute in the United States to carry out research programs for young leaders in media, business and other fields in China and short-term research programs for American elites in China. At the same time, BLCU delegation was also invited to visit Missouri and jointly set up Harvard Peking College with Harvard University. President Liu Li said that the cultural exchange with education as its main content has become a profound force to promote the mutual construction of cultural exchanges and civilizations. In the future, BLCU will join hands with the U.S. educational circles to promote the cultivation of Chinese talents and teaching for foreign students in China, deepen the cultural exchange between China and the United States, and establish cooperation in key educational projects between China and the United States.

In her speech, Ms. Linda Liu, Vice President of the U.S. university Council, said that she had benefited a lot from this activity. This experience gave her a deeper understanding of China’s cultural history and the importance the country attaches to education. She thanked the university Council for its cooperation with Hanban in the past decade. She said that language communication and cross-cultural communication are very important abilities, and Dali will continue to provide students with such opportunities in the future. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to BLCU for all the preparations for the project. She said that although this trip to China is coming to an end, it is only the beginning of our friendship. In the future, both sides should strengthen their ties and seek more opportunities for cooperation.
