As one of the two most innovative universities in the United States, Georgia State University has attracted more and more Chinese students to study here with its diverse culture. According to official statistics, it has more than 3000 foreign students, 68 % of whom are from Asia, including more than 600 Chinese students. Georgia State University faculty and staff have come into contact with more and more Chinese students in teaching and work, but they do not know how to pronounce their names, which has troubled many professors and administrators and has also affected their in-depth exchanges.

In order to break such “estrangement”, Confucius Institute at Georgia State University has set up a small Chinese Pinyin class for its teaching staff, providing basic training courses in Chinese Pinyin. This semester, there are two sections in this course, and each course has three hours. The teaching staff can make personalized choices according to their own time and needs. The students in this course are mainly professors and administrators from business schools, international affairs centers, libraries, security centers and other institutions.
