On January 5th, Professor Pan Haihua, the Changjiang Scholar of our university, donated 108, 000 RMB to our university. The grant will be set up as a special fund for the study of formal linguistics to promote the development of formal linguistics in our university and our country.

　　Professor Pan Haihua is a professor of Linguistics and Modern Language Department in Chinese University Hong Kong, doctoral tutor, and once a Professor at the Department of Translation and Linguistics in City University of Hong Kong and he is also the Changjiang Scholar of our university. Professor Pan Haihua’ s research covers such areas as syntactic theory, formal semantics, and computational linguistics and so on.
