In the afternoon of October 14, the hiring of Professor Susan Rothstein in Bar Ilan University, Israel as visiting professor by BLCU was held in the classroom 707 at the Comprehensive Building.
Deputy Secretary Wang Luxin issued a letter of appointment as visiting professor to Susan Rothstein. And he welcomed the joining of Professor Rothstein on behalf of the university. Professor Rothstein said, she was honored as a visiting professor in BLCU and expressed thanks to BLCU. Professor Rothstein’s joining has significant influence in strengthening the exchanges and cooperation between our university and the international linguistics community and expanding the academic influence and so on.
Rothstein Susan, professor of the Bar Ilan University, majoring in theoretical linguistics, is the leading figure in the field of contemporary semantics. Professor Rothstein received a master’s degree in philosophy and modern linguistics from University of Oxford in 1979. She received a PhD in linguistics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983 and taught at College of William and Mary in the United States after graduation. Professor Rothstein has been engaged in the research of formal semantics for a long time, and has made great contributions to the development of the international linguistic circles. Her research fields are mainly semantics, syntax and semantic interface, noun phrase structure, event semantics, cross language semantics and so on.
