In this semester, 98 Confucius Institute Scholarship students from four countries of South Asia enter the school of matriculation education to become the first batch of students in the project of “Chinese Teachers Training for South Asian Countries”.

　　The period of this project lasts for five years, after a year of preparatory study; students will enter our Chinese college and other colleges for professional learning. After graduation, outstanding graduates can continue to enjoy the funding of Hanban / Confucius Institute and become local Chinese language teachers.

　　Deputy Secretary Wang Luxin expressed a warm welcome to the South Asian Chinese teachers in Confucius Institute Scholarship class. He said that this project is a pioneering work of the Confucius Institute and also the first try in mainland China specifically for overseas countries to develop high levels of local Chinese teachers. He encouraged everyone to behave like “Chinese teachers” in all time and become excellent Chinese teachers who are familiar with Chinese and Chinese cultures and with excellent skills of Chinese language teaching.
