On the morning of April 12, 2014, with the warm spring breeze, the People's Republic of China national anthem resounded through Room 209 of No. 1 teaching building and the Eighth Party Congress of Beijing Language and Culture University opened here. On behalf of the Seventh Party Committee, the Party Secretary Li Yuming made a speech of “promoting reform through opening up and promoting development through reform to build a world-class language university: the work report of the Seventh Chinese Communist Party Committee of Beijing Language and Culture University”. President Cui Xiliang gave an opening speech, and Deputy Party secretary Huo Mingjie presided over the meeting. As gusts, Peng Shi, deputy inspector of  Personnel Division of the Ministry of Education, Wang Wensheng, secretary of Beijing Educational Discipline Committee, Zhu Baojiang, Ministry of Education, Director of College Cadre Division Three of the Personnel Department, Li Lihui, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Education Committee, Xu Xiaomin, party secretary of China University of Mining and Technology, and Feng Pei, party secretary of Beijing International Studies University,  attended the meeting. 128 party representatives shouldering the trust of teachers and students of Beijing Language and Culture University gathered at the meeting venue.

　　The meeting was solemnly and warmly hosted. The logo at the top of the podium “the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Beijing Language and Culture University” was particularly conspicuous, the emblem of Chinese Communist Party on the middle of the curtain was very dazzling, 10 red flags pointed out on both sides, and the banner “promoting reform through opening up and promoting development through reform to build a world-class language university” hung in the rear of the venue, all of which were very stimulating and inspiring.

　　Under the new situation and standing at a new historical starting point, The Eight Party Congress was an important conference to make a plan for the development of our school. The theme was: hold high the great banner of Chinese socialism, Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents", and take the scientific outlook on development as guidance, thoroughly implement the spirit of the Party's 18^th Committee, the Second and the Third Plenum of the 18^th Committee to promote reform through opening up and promote development through reform to build a world-class language university.
