At November 18th noon, the activity of “making your plate empty” was carried out in BLCU. This activity will penetrate the idea of saving food into students’daily life, enhance everyone’s consciousness of saving food, and develop a good habit of saving food.
This activity called on everyone to join in the “making your plate empty” group. Students who were able to be “empty” also were awarded blue ribbon. And those who didn’t finish their plate said they would take the rest back.
According to statistics, China's annual food waste is up to 700 billion kilograms which is equivalent to the grain yield of 2 million hectares of arable land; while the final drained leftovers of a certain scaled restaurant can feed at least two hundred million people, the waste on the table worth 200 billion yuan.
