日前，我校校友、联合国副秘书长、日内瓦办事处总干事卡塞姆·托卡耶夫向母校50周年校庆发来贺信。贺信全文如下：

Dear Prof. Cui Xiliang,

Thank you for your letter of 17 May 2012 and the invitation to participate in the ceremony commemorating the 50^th Anniversary of the establishment of Beijing Language and Culture University.

In this regard, l wish to congratulate the Beijing and Culture University for providing 50 years of Chinese language and culture education to international students and serving as an important academic base for research in these areas. As an alumni, I have appreciated first-hand the role that the University plays in promoting multilingualism and cultural diversity; two key priorities for the United Nations

I regret to inform you that my schedule does not permit to attend the commemoration, however I would like to extend my best wishes for the occasion and for your future endeavours.

卡塞姆· 托卡耶夫（Kassym-Jomart Tokayev）于1983年至1984年在我校学习，曾任哈萨克斯坦外交部部长、副总理、总理、上议院议长，现任联合国副秘书长、日内瓦办事处总干事。
