State of South Carolina’s ninth “South Carolina Chinese Star” Contest Kicked Off

    February 24, State of South Carolina’s ninth “South Carolina Chinese Star” contest kicked off in Presbyterian College Edmund hall.

The competition, jointly organized by the Confucius Institute of the University of South Carolina and the Confucius Institute at Presbyterian College, aims at providing a stage for Chinese learners and Chinese lovers in South Carolina to showcase their Chinese language skills and talents, as well as to recommend excellent candidates for the upcoming 17th “Chinese bridge” world university students Chinese competition in Washington, D.C..

  There were two levels in the competition: primary and secondary school and university. Each level was divided into two categories: language skills and talent performance. The contestants fully demonstrated their achievements in learning Chinese, ranging from the path to learning Chinese and the awkward situations of studying abroad to the martial arts dream, with a wide range of topics and clear and fluent expressions. Sometimes humorous, sometimes passionate, each player's unique momentum gained praise from the judges and the audience.

Emily Knapp, from the Confucius classroom of the East Point School of the Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina performed well, earning her the title of “future star of South Carolina” in the primary and secondary school group with music poems reciting “farewell to Cambridge” and graceful long fan dance.
