On December 20, the first session of the “International Forum on Music Education and Communication in Multicultural Background” was held in the Teaching Building of Run Run Shaw of Beijing Language and Culture University.
The Forum is not only a response to cultural exchange policies such as going out and “the Belt and Road Initiative”, but also a grand gathering to share the fruits of teaching and dissemination in colleges and universities and to explore ways of international music education and research. The forum shows the initial results of international education of music in theory and practice and that of cross-cultural music teaching.
Experts pointed out that the development of international music education relies on the national and regional policies. It is necessary to effectively promote the international education and dissemination of Chinese music by expanding the scale of running schools, increasing academic exchanges, strengthening teacher training in foreign music teaching.
After the academic discussion, the experts attending the meeting watched the cross-cultural music teaching and reporting performance together with BLCU teachers and students. The performance was divided into two parts including art sharing class show and music international education and communication professional teacher and student show. In the art sharing lesson, students from all over the world showed their own achievements in learning Chinese music. The whole concert gave a fresh impression and became a highlight of this academic forum.
