2017 National Social Science Foundation major project assessment results announced recently, BLCU submitted a total of three tenders, and two of them were successful. This was the first time that BLCU had ever won the tenders of two major national social science foundation projects in the same year. The winning tenders belonged to the field of linguistics. They were respectively "Professor Xu Chaodong's "Construction and Study of Mandarin Phonetic Database Platform during Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties and Republic of China", and Professor Jiang Xin's Interdisciplinary Research on Chinese Textual Readability Assessment and Grading.

National Social Science Foundation is a major project of the highest level of liberal arts research projects. In recent years, BLCU attaches great importance to the national social science foundation project team incubation, selection of topics and organizational reporting and other related work. With the joint efforts of our whole university and researchers, the BLCU’s number of applying projects and the number of selected projects of in major projects of the National Social Science Foundation have significantly increased. In recent years, every year, BLCU has won a tender of major project of the National Social Science Foundation. In 2017, it has achieved a historic breakthrough. We hope that through the concerted efforts of our whole university, in the future, the number of winning major projects of BLCU will reach another record high.
