September 11, the first China International Language and Culture Expo officially kicked off. International students’ representatives from 64 countries who had participated in "The Belt and Road" jointly issued “‘The Belt and Road’ language and cultural exchange and cooperation initiative”.

Liu Li, president of Beijing Language and Culture University, said that the work done by our country in various fields of spoken and written languages had been fully demonstrated at the first session of the China International Language & Culture Expo, hoping to strengthen the communication between China and the world through the driving force of the language, and to promote Chinese culture to go out of China.

The expo was divided into a main exhibition area and four sub-areas including "write with the same word”, “speak with the same language”, "information technology wise language", "The Belt and Road, Language comes first", which exhibited the language and culture of 64 counties along “The Belt and Road” and intangible cultural heritage, highlighted the Confucius Institute's position in the spread of Chinese language in the world, and fully demonstrated the achievements of language and cultural construction since the "13th Five-Year Plan" in China.

The hold of the first session of the Language & Culture Expo positively promoted the international exchange of language and culture, the spread and promotion of Chinese culture, the enhancement of national soft power, and the enhancement of cultural awareness and cultural self-confidence.
