The First “Chinese Teaching Heroes” Ended Successfully

June 22, co-organized by the Confucius Institute headquarters/Hanban, jointly undertaken by Beijing Language and Culture University, CGA China Educational Television, the first "Chinese Heroes" came to an end. More than 700 Chinese and foreign Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages major students from 84 universities and colleges nationwide participated in the competition.

Sun Yueran from BLCU and Hungarian student Gaudi from Beijing Normal University, eventually became the champions of the first "Chinese Heroes", Li Zhuojun froam Chongqing Normal University and Thai student Hong Jiancheng from Peking University won the runner-ups, Li Ziyan, Zhang Yuhang, Li Wenjun, and Jia Li respectively from China, Indonesia, and Ghana won the third place.

The competition was divided into two parts: wonderful class and keynote speech. In the wonderful class session, the candidates taught foreign students the Chinese language and organize classroom activities. During the teaching process, candidates applied the cultural contents include Tai Chi, tea art, Chinese folk songs and folk customs, and other cultural content to language teaching, showing the concept and method of “learning by doing”. In the “my future self of ten years” keynote speech, four candidates shared their touching stories on the path of realization of their Chinese teacher dreams, during which they had never been given up but forged ahead.
