On September 10, with the arrival of the thirty-second Teachers’ Day, “Language Culture and its Protection” Xueyuan Road intercollegiate elective course opened in the Comprehensive Building hall 707. Party Secretary, Chairman of Language Policy and Planning Institute of Chinese Linguistic Association Professor Li Yuming made an excellent presentation entitled “The Present Situation of Chinese Language and its Policy” for teachers and students, which summarized the incisive situation of Chinese language, opened a new field of language disciplines, demonstrated the new method of language study and also pointed out the research direction and subject areas for the teachers and students, giving them unlimited inspirations.

The nineteenth National Mandarin Promotion week lasts from September 8 to 14, this year’s theme is “Vigorously Promote and Standardize the Use of the National Common Language, Help Build a Moderately Prosperous Society in an All-round Way”. Combined with the theme of the week and our university’s characteristics, we planned and launched the “language culture and its protection” Xueyuan Road intercollegiate elective course, the curriculum is divided into three large plates of “general situation and theory”, “language protection case” and “language culture and social application”, which designed to spread the basic national conditions of Chinese language and culture to the young students, promoted cultural and linguistic diversity concept, introduced the theory, method, technology and practice of language protection, improved students’ practical ability of language protection.

This semester, our university will hold Mandarin contest for foreign students and the fourth Chinese character contest and other activities, which will constantly improve the understanding and mastery of national language for Chinese and foreign teachers and students, improved their awareness to standardize the use of the national common language.
