On December 6, the tenth global Confucius Institute Conference was officially opened in Shanghai World Expo Center. Vice Prime Minister of the State Council, chairman of the headquarters of Confucius Institute Liu Yandong attended the meeting, and gave awards to advanced individuals and advanced units for the global Confucius Institute. Universities presidents from more than 130 countries and regions and Confucius Institute representatives, together more than 2300 people attended the meeting.

　　President Cui Xiliang on behalf of BLCU accepted the award of the “Advanced Chinese Cooperation Organization” awarded by the Vice Premier Liu Yandong. This is the third time we have won the honor. Our Confucius Institutes also won awards. University of Sheffield Confucius Institute was awarded the “Advanced Confucius Institute”, Confucius Institute Islamabad, Pakistan was named “Model Confucius Institutes”, chairman of Confucius Institute in Sibiu, Romania and Lucian - Plaka University Affairs Committee Constantin - Oprean and the chairman of Georgia State University Confucius Institute, President of Georgia State University Mark P. Becker were awarded the “Advanced Individual”.
