On December 4, the 13th Global Confucius Institute Conference was held in Chengdu. More than 1500 delegates from 154 countries and regions attended the conference. Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Confucius Institute Headquarters, attended the opening ceremony and awarded medals to 10 universities in 9 countries where Confucius Institute was established for the first time.

President Liu Li put forward five suggestions on how to train and bring up more outstanding professional backbone teachers: First, build a teacher education platform to train high-quality teachers for international Chinese education, including Confucius Institute. Second, strengthen the selection and training of professional backbone teachers. Third, the evaluation standard and evaluation system. Fourth, improve the attractiveness of teachers. Fifth, establish a teacher training system linking pre-service training with in-service training.

President Liu Li's report attracted the attention and heated discussion of the Chinese and foreign delegates.During the question-and-answer session, many Chinese and foreign representatives asked President Liu Li about strengthening the construction of the faculty of Confucius Institute and expressed the hope that BLCU would send excellent teachers and cooperate with BLCU to carry out teacher education and teacher training.
