From July 2 to 3, the second International Forum of linguistics in Chinese Education, IFOLICE was held in Beijing Language and Culture University. This forum takes “Chinese Characters and Chinese Language” as theme, and is undertaken by Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Research Base Beijing Language and Culture University Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language Research Center and Peking University Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, jointly organized by Beijing Language Institute. Party Secretary of BLCU Professor Li Yuming, President Cui Xiliang gave speeches in the opening and closing ceremony.

“Chinese Characters and Chinese Language” is a classic question. In the two days forum, experts, scholars and postgraduate students from around the country discussed on “language” and “culture”, “language” “culture” teaching order and teaching method of Chinese characters, the function of phonetic alphabet, Chinese character recognition reading competence acquisition, modern techniques and the teaching of Chinese characters, simplified and traditional Chinese conversion system, Chinese character learning strategies and published their research results. In addition, they also discussed Chinese ontology and teaching and so on, such as types of Chinese vocabulary and lexical typology, voice and tone teaching, Chinese sentence patterns and acquisition, language block and construction, Chinese text and teaching, modern education technology and Chinese teaching and so on. Except for special reports and report to the forum, the forum follows the tradition of the first session of the forum, opened the “interactive forum”, which the delegates and invited experts gathered in a hall to discuss on two questions of the role of Chinese characters in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and information impact on Chinese characters (Chinese character education).
