On April 2, Secretary Li Yuming met with our university alumni Professor Joel Bellassen, the Chinese Education Governor of French Ministry of Education and the Professor Michael Byram, consultant of European Commission. They discussed the cooperation between BLCU with France and the European Commission.

    Secretary Li Yuming and Professor Bellassen discussed on the organization issues of “The Third International Symposium of Sino French Language Policy and Planning Comparative Study”. The two sides hoped that the symposium would increase the discussion of the language policy and planning in other French speaking countries, so as to further enhance exchanges and cooperation between China, France and the French speaking countries.

    Professor Michael Byram, the expert in the field of language policy and cross cultural communication and the consultant of European Commission discussed with Secretary Li Yuming on how to strengthen the cooperation under the framework of communication mechanism for the high level of humanism. The two sides hoped to strengthen cooperation to develop more elite talents for China and the EU, provide a strong support for the career development of Confucius Institute teachers, make more contributions to the harmonious development of diverse cultures and languages in the world.

    The talks further promote the cooperation between our cooperation with France and the European Commission in the field of language policy and planning, language education.
