In December 20, 2016, the New Year Celebration for ASEAN students was successfully held in BLCU.

　　Secretary Li expressed his thanks to the China ASEAN Center and the Ministry of Education International Department for their trust and support to BLCU, the two sides exchanged views around the planning of to further promotion of China and ASEAN academic exchange activities based on the BLCU “China - ASEAN language and culture center”, Secretary Li also gave suggestions on the future development of BLCU majors suitable for foreign students to learn in China.

　　In the speeches, Ambassador Yang Xiuping expressed support to the policy of ASEAN integration, emphasized the expectation of strengthening bilateral youth education exchanges in the future. Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education of the International Department Fang Jun said the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China would continue to increase the scholarships for ASEAN students and gave critical suggestions for the future development of the ASEAN students studying in China right now. BLCU Secretary Li Yuming highlighted in his speech the features and educational ideas of BLCU, emphasized BLCU’s important contribution in developing foreign dignitaries and international friends. He hoped that BLCU “China - ASEAN language and culture center” would further play the academic function in the future, introducing Southeast Asian languages and playing a more important role in cultivating the high-end Chinese talents.

　　During the celebration, students from Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos and other countries gave performances with distinctive ethnic features. This event is one of our “China - ASEAN language and culture center” annual events, enriched the study and cultural life of ASEAN students and promoted the exchanges and friendship between China and ASEAN students.
