Invited by Queen Elizabeth II, National President Xi Jinping visited the United Kingdom from October 19 to 23; during his visit President Xi attended the opening ceremony of the annual meeting of all the U.K.’s Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom. The President Cui Xiliang of BLCU was invited to attend the annual meeting and was received by President Xi Jinping.

　　President Xi Jinping said in his speech: “As a window and bridge between Chinese and foreign language and cultural exchange, Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom play a positive role for the world to learn Chinese and understand the Chinese culture and also promote China’s cultural exchanges with the world, make an important contribution to the development of more diverse and colorful world civilization.”

　　At the annual meeting of all the U.K.’s Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom, President Cui Xiliang delivered a speech on behalf of BLCU in the University Principal Forum. Counselor of the State Council, director of Hanban and the General Director of Confucius Institute Headquarters lady Xu Lin praised the named of Beijing Language and Culture University and it’s work of Confucius Institute in the conference, affirmed our effort and hard work for the development of the Confucius Institute and appreciated BLCU for the outstanding contributions it has made in the development of the Confucius Institute.
