Carry forward Democracy and Science, Promote the Reformation of University Governance
On May 28th, the mobilization meeting of reformation of university governance was hosted in Room 209, Building 1. The secretary of the party committee Li Mingyu made a motivation speech on the reformation of university governance, president Cui Xiliang also put forward detailed requirements.
In the speech, secretary Li Mingyu pointed out that the motivation of reformation was the fundamental requirement in building modern university system. The overall aim of reformation was to build a university system based on subjects, adjust the university running system and interior governing system, rationalize the relationship between subject and educational entities, and ensure that subject construction play a leading role in the construction of university. The school party raised an preliminary conception of “three departments and four colleges” after research. The “three departments” included international Chinese teaching department, foreign language department and humanistic and social science department. The “four colleges”included scientific language research institute, training college, international business college and information engineering college. This conception still needed further design and demonstration and the approval needed voting from enlarged meeting of the party committee through academical democratic process. Now two departments including international Chinese teaching department and scientific language research institute were taken as pilot department.
President Cui Xiliang required that the reformation group should keep close contact with researching departments and coordinated with each other to smoothly promote the reformation process. The related functional department also should make supporting programme of the reformation. He also hoped the faculty can join in the discussion and design and implementation of the reformation and push forward the process of building a first-class university.
