On June 10th, secretary of the party committee Li Mingyu walked into the classroom of college of teaching Chinese as a foreign language of the year 2010 “Chinese Philology” and gave an vivid and thorough lecture “What does linguistics study?”.

　　Professor Li Mingyu thought that “linguistics is a science which studies language and related issues”. From this definition and taking the three key word “language study, issues related to language and language science” as a core, he systematically explained his understanding on the subject of linguistic combining the the history and current studies both abroad and domestically, constructing the macro flame of linguistic study.

　　Professor Li Mingyu shared with the students about his achievements of more than 30 years’, including the achievements on Children linguistics and psychological linguistics in which he was expert, also including the experience and opinions on language planing and management when he was director of Language Information Management Department of Ministry of Education and superintendent of Language Application Research Institution of Ministry of Education. Recently, the school advocates that professors should walk into the classroom of undergraduates and open courses for them, and professor Li Mingyu made a model for the whole school.
