  Experts Unscramble the Internationalization and Economical Contribution of Higher Education

  On May 6th, professor Ling Dexiang, from Institute of International Education of Shanghai Jiaotong University, made a speech tittled by “Study on Internationalization and Economical Contribution of China’s Higher Education” in BLCU on invitation.

  Professor Ling believed that there were four aspects reflected higher education internationalization admitted by administration of education. The four aspects: firstly bring in (foreign experts and foreign teachers); secondly go abroad (Chinese students study going abroad); thirdly recruit students (foreign students come to China to study); fourthly build out of China (China’s colleges and universities build college outside and send teachers to teach outside). In the above four aspects, the first and the second meant the internationalization of higher education, while the third was aspect which best reflected internationalization of higher education and was the most important indicator for evaluating a university’s internationalization. From this perspective, BLCU was the “Leader” of China's higher education internationalization. Internationalization was a unique feature and advantage of BLCU, and should be used to develop its language education and researches of language education.

  According to the “Statistical Analysis of Foreign Students Coming to China from 2007 to 2011”, professor Ling also compared the situation of foreign students coming to China in Beijing, Shanghai and the whole country. Combining with the contribution of internationalization to state economy, he also had thoroughly analyzed the contribution of higher education internationalization to state economy.
