On the morning of August 24, Vice - President Zhang Baojun met with Professor Jean - Marc Orje, President of University of La Rochelle in France, Professor Jean - Christopher Bree, Vice - President, and their team. He bid a warm welcome the visit of President of University of La Rochelle, and briefly introduced the training and exchange programs of French - oriented undergraduates, master students and PHD students of the French Department and the School of translation and interpreting. Both sides discussed their views on international exchanges from the perspective of universities.
The University of La Rochelle was founded in 1992 in La Rochelle, France. It is a multi-disciplinary and professional university. The university has three faculty-level teaching and research units and a technical college, and has 13 research laboratories, two of which are formal cooperative laboratories of France's national research center. On May 12, 2006, BLCU signed a cooperation agreement with University of La Rochelle and La Rochelle City Community to jointly establish the La Rochelle Confucius Institute. The Confucius Institute officially started its operation on October 16, 2008 and won the title of “Advanced Confucius Institute" in 2013.
Through this meeting, the two universities hope to continue to strengthen mutual trust and explore new areas of cooperation.
