October 29, the founding ceremony of the Beijing Language and Culture University Linguistics Department kicked off. BLCU Professor Liu li, famous linguist Professor Lu Jinming, famous linguist Professor Hu Zhuanglin, and famous linguist Professor Huang Zhengde, co-founded the establishment of the Linguistics Department. Near a hundred experts, teachers and students from Peking University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Foreign Studies University and France, the United States and attended the establishment ceremony.

The Director of the Department of Linguistics is BLCU Professor Sifuzhen, the internationally renowned linguist Luigi Rizzi is employed as the honorary Dean of the Linguistics Department.

In his welcome speech, President Liu said that with the continuous development of domestic linguistics research, Chinese language scholars began to explore the innovative theoretical system conforming to the Chinese reality on the basis of inheriting the tradition, and also began to focus on the training of linguists with complete knowledge structure of modern linguistics.

After the inauguration ceremony, BLCU Linguistics Department will hold a two-day international Forum on the frontiers of linguistics, near a hundred of overseas experts from China, France, the United States, Italy, Hungary, Syria, Japan, and South Korea will attend. At that time, there will be more than 30 experts to do a wonderful thematic report on the academic history of linguistics, grammar, phonology and other aspects of in-depth discussion.
