On the evening of May 30, the fifth lecture of "forum of Lai Garden" was solemnly opened in the Run Run Shaw lecture hall in Beijing Language and Culture University. Professor Chen Xiaoming of Peking university was invited as the guest speaker and gave a lecture entitled "how to understand and evaluate contemporary Chinese literature".
In the introductory part of the lecture, Professor Chen Xiaoming pointed out that Chinese literature in the new century has an open and distinct diversification tendency. In the process of changing from "oral civilization" to "writing civilization" to today's "audio-visual civilization", literature will inevitably face a dilemma. However, this does not mean that literature is dead, but it means that it is continuously integrating with audio-visual civilization and developing in a diversified direction. In addition, unlike the "youth writing" characteristics of modern Chinese literature, contemporary Chinese literature has the characteristics of "late depression".
Professor Chen Xiaoming's lecture not only covers a keen grasp of a large number of text details, but also has a grand idea of responding to the status of contemporary literature. Its rich and substantial content brings great inspiration to the teachers and students present. It inspires everyone to do a good job in literature research with "indefatigable and profound knowledge" so as to cultivate a broad vision and never forget to dig deeply into the details of art at the same time.
