From May 10th to 11th, an academic seminar to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the announcement of the Chinese pinyin plan, which was co-organized by Beijing Language and Culture University and Institute of Applied Linguistics Ministry of Education, was held in Beijing.

BLCU President Liu Li of believes that the pinyin plan demonstrates the craftsman spirit of new Chinese linguists and philologists who pursue excellence as "contemporary Cang Jie". As a university named after the word "language", BLCU should inherit and carry forward the lofty spirit and academic demeanor of previous linguists and writers, and contribute to serving the country's major decisions.

Professor Li Yuming said in the summary of the meeting that the Chinese pinyin plan is of great value in the contemporary era. Commemorating the promulgation of Chinese pinyin plan is not only to commemorate the achievements of predecessors, but also to define the mission of the present and explore the future development. We should learn from the knowledge and vision of our ancestors and continue to build our careers in the new era.

In this meeting, many application problems of Chinese pinyin plan in the new situation have been comprehensively summarized and discussed. After a heated discussion by the participating experts, the meeting achieved fruitful results.
