Recently, organized by the Office of Academic Affairs, co-hosted by School of Applied Foreign Languages and School of English Studies of the Faculty of Foreign Studies and the twenty-third China Daily "21st Century Cup" National English speech contest, and the 2017 “FLTRP Cup” National English Speech Contest, the Campus Trials of the 9th Graduate students English Speech Contest of Beijing Undergraduates was held at the Run Run Shaw Lecture Hall.
With "Belt and Road: China and the World" as its theme, the contest. Each speaker's speech consisted two parts: a five-minute speech with a fixed topic and a three-minute impromptu speech. 16 students from ten schools expressed their views, and with excellent performance, they had brought a wonderful audio-visual feast to the judges and the audience.
After nearly three hours of fierce competition, and ultimately, Liu Wenjin won the first prize, Wang Can and Zhang Linjie won the second prize, Zhu Zhengxing, Ali Mire, Zhu Kaitong, Zhang Youshan, Yang Hanru, Zheng Yiqiao won the third prize; Xie Zeng, Li Tiantian , Zhou Xuehan, Xu Kai Chen, Huang Yiran, Song Peng, Zhang Qi won awards.
The English speech contest increased the interest of students in learning English, gave the students space to show their English level, which contributed to improve the overall English level and English academic level of BLCU students, and contributed to build a good academic atmosphere for English learning.
