On the afternoon of March 23, hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters / Hanban and the Education and Training Department of the Australian Victorian Government, organized by the School of Advanced Chinese Learning of Beijing Language and Culture University, the opening ceremony of 2017 “Chinese Bridge - Australian High School Students Spring Camp” was held.
Dean Liu Changzheng extended a warm welcome to the Australian teachers and students who came to China. He hoped that the students could experience Chinese culture while learning Chinese, to discover and understand the real China beyond their classes and books.
Huang Kaixin, program officer from the Victorian Government International Education Office of the Ministry of Education and Training, expressed his gratitude to BLCU for their thoughtful arrangements and hoped that the students would take an active part in each event.
Australian teacher leader Taylor Roberts shared with students the feelings he had during his participation in the event in BLCU. He hoped your trip to China could gain something.
BLCU teachers’ representative Chen Zhuo said: “lively and interesting Chinese courses will make students love Chinese more, rich and colorful experiencing activities will let you feel the diversity and richness of the Chinese culture”.
During the next two weeks, students will not only learn Chinese courses, listen to Chinese history and culture lectures, and experience traditional Chinese culture, but also visit famous historic and cultural sites, experience the taste of the Ancient Beijing, watch the acrobatic performances full of rich Chinese elements.
With the advanced curriculum design concepts and careful organization, the School of Advanced Chinese Learning received the affirmation by the Confucius Institute Headquarters and the Victorian Ministry of Education in Asia. We will continue our efforts in sowing friendly and good seeds in the hearts of Australian teenagers and cultivate excellent messengers for the cultural exchanges of China and Australia in the future.
