BLCU Students Participate In The Public Elective Courses “Masters Read Classics”

March 16, 52 students from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of International Relations College went to Tsinghua University auditorium, to participate in the first lecture of the public elective courses “Masters Read Classics”.

Beijing Municipal Education Committee carried out the “Masters Read Classics” activities in 2016 Autumn Semester in the universities from Beijing as the pilot, which was initiated by BLCU aiming at forming a teaching system that with the ideological and Political Theory compulsory courses as its major courses, and with the series courses of “Masters Read Classics” as the useful complement, and this teaching system was a response to the regulations of the Ministry of Education. Though this system, we can sense the attraction and charisma of theoretical masters, and enhance the classroom teaching persuasion. This year, as a promotion and upgrade of the previous activity, the Municipal Education Commission would carry out the “Masters Read Classics” as an open public elective course. As a result, the number of universities participated in this activity has increased over the previous year, including our school, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, China University Of Geosciences(Beijing), China Forestry University, Central University of Finance and Economics and other universities. All together there were 20 colleges and universities opened this course in this spring semester.

In this semester, as a public elective course, “Masters Read Classics”was set up in the Education Administration System and is open to China undergraduates of grade 2015 from the students Humanities and Social Sciences Department of College of International Relations every Thursday . The theme of semester was “Chinese Way: World Trend and Chinese Development Strategy”.

The first lecturer was Professor Sun Xuefeng from the Department of International Relations of Tsinghua University of the College of International Relations, Tsinghua University, entitled “China Faces the Challenge in Security Environment in Neighboring Areas”. According to the proposed projects of this semester, students would also have the opportunity to exchange with the theoretical masters such as Zhang Zhaozhong, Jin Yinan, Liu Yazhou and Dai Xu in the follow-up courses.
