From November 30 to December 15, our university and the Suez Canal University of Egypt organized a series of activities in the framework of “20 + 20”, including the Sino-Egyptian Advanced Translation Forum and other activities.
Vice President Cao Zhiyun pointed out in his speech, our university and the Egyptian Suez Canal University have conducted multi-level exchanges and cooperation, made remarkable achievements in cooperation as early as 2010 under the cooperation framework of Sino-African University “20 +20”. The world’s first Online Confucius Classroom, Africa’s first Chinese and abroad joint Sinology Research Center, the country’s first “Sino-Egyptian College” represent latest frontier cooperation results in the field of higher education between our university in China and Africa.
In 2016, on the basis of the Center for Arab Studies, we will establish national and regional research institutes to achieve full coverage of national and regional research under the “One Belt, One Road” strategy, leading the research in this field in China. National and regional studies are based on a high level of foreign language. Translation is one of the basic skills of language, which is the basic way to enhance language proficiency, and to bridge the gap between different cultures. The forum will be of great significance to strengthening Sino-Egyptian cultural exchanges and enhancing the training of Arabic professionals in China.
