2016 Annual “Top Ten Chinese Media Buzzwords” Officially Released

On December 20, the Beijing Language and Culture University National Language Resources Monitoring and Research Print Media Center released the “2016 Top Ten Chinese Media Buzzwords”. This buzzword includes nine categories: comprehensive, domestic politics, international politics, economy, culture and education, science and technology, sports and entertainment, social life and people’s livelihood. 2016 annual Chinese media comprehensive top ten popular buzzword is: “studies on the theoretical and practical issues of Party building, the spirit of the Long March, Hangzhou G20 summit, the South China Sea, Rio Olympics, Brexit, the United States election, Korean sister politics, Tiangong II, Alpha Go”.

“2016 Top Ten Chinese Media Buzzwords” is based on the national language resource monitoring corpus, the use of language information processing technology, combined with artificial post-processing extraction, screening and can represent the mainstream media language features and indications of change.
