The opening ceremony of 2019 “Chinese Bridge-Australian High School Students’ Spring Camp” and “Victorian Young Leaders to China” (VYLC) was successfully held in Beijing Language and Culture University. This project is jointly sponsored by Confucius Headquarters/National Hanban and the Education and Training Department of the Australian Victorian Government, and hosted by Beijing Language and Culture University Chinese Intensive College.

In the next two weeks, the campers will not only learn Chinese lessons in Beijing, attend cultural lectures and traditional Chinese culture, but also visit world cultural heritage such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall to explore the context of Chinese culture through history. Experience Beijing’s unique customs in person, and communicate with local people in close proximity. I believe that through these rich and colorful courses and activities, young talents from Australia will be able to truly feel the breadth and depth of traditional China and the vitality of Chinese modern society and tell their stories with China.

The VYLC has been hosted by the Chinese Intensive College since 2016 and has successfully held seven phases. For this reason, we have set up a special teaching management team and constructed a Chinese plus teaching mode according to the characteristics of young people, aiming at stimulating Australian young people’s interest in China and Chinese culture, maintaining and improving the heat of learning Chinese, and making their love for China and Chinese culture rooted in their minds. Our advanced curriculum design concept, meticulous organization and management are fully recognized by Confucius Institute Headquarters and the education bureau of Office of International and Victoria (Australia) Education Bureau. The scale of students continues to expand, and students’ Chinese ability has been greatly improved. I believe that through this cooperation, the two sides will be more harmonious, making this project a brand project for Chinese culture teaching for youth students in Beijing Language and Culture University Chinese Intensive College.
