In order to enable Chinese learners to have a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture and stimulate their enthusiasm to learn Chinese, the Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina held a “Chinese Food Night” activity on the afternoon of April 12, local time, inviting all first-year students majoring in or taking Chinese courses at the University of South Carolina to participate in the activity, with a total of more than 50 participants. Through watching the whole process of making dumplings, experiencing the fun of making dumplings with their own hands, and tasting the most representative Chinese food, the students experienced the unique charm of Chinese traditional cuisine in China.
In order to enable students to enjoy more Chinese food besides dumplings, and also to allow students of different religious customs and eating habits to participate, the Confucius Institute specially prepared the most representative Chinese food with different tastes, such as Kung Pao chicken, Mapo Tofu, sweet and sour fish fillet, veggie spring rolls, etc.
As a characteristic activity of this year’s Open Day of the Confucius Institute, this activity enables students of the Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina to appreciate the charm of China’s Chinese traditional cuisine and culture, and further enhances the interaction between the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute.
