In the afternoon of March 31, BLCU alumni Mukalla, director of Southern Africa Department of Heritage Center in the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) returned to BLCU and delivered a speech themed in “World Heritage, the Proof of Dialogue among Civilizations” for teachers and students in our university.
Professor Lu Wei, Dean of the School of Applied Foreign Languages, introduced the “Cultural Heritage Development” Master program of international cooperation approved by the Ministry of Education. It will play a pioneering role in the internationalization of our university.
In the lecture, Mukalla fondly remembered his language learning experience in the 1970s. As the “foreigner” who speaks best Chinese language in UNESCO, he encouraged BLCU students to strive to master a variety of languages, stressed on the importance of national cultural identity and the equality between different cultures.
Shen Yubiao, Deputy Director of Office of Science and Culture, the National Committe Secretariat, China UNESCO, introduced in his speech the UNESCO organizations and functions as well as the world heritage declaration work and encouraged young BLCU students to actively apply for an internship at the United Nations agencies, to train themselves in international organizations and expand international perspective.
