On June 17, at the second open day of Kansai Foreign Studies University this year, Confucius Institute at Kansai Foreign Studies University successfully held the activity "Beijing opera and facial makeup-Chinese Peking opera cultural experience activity". Rich and colorful Beijing opera pictures, festive and auspicious Chinese knots, cute and adorable pandas, and various types of facial masks, many Chinese elements have attracted the attention of high school students and their parents.
Beijing opera is the quintessence of China and one of the business cards of Chinese culture. Volunteer teachers from Confucius institute first led everyone to appreciate two fragments of Chinese classic Peking opera. Next, they introduced the four major roles of Peking opera, "sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou", and introduced various types of facial makeup in Peking opera. Finally, the teacher introduced that different colors in the facial makeup represent different cultural meanings, and prepared the experiencing link of making Peking opera facial makeup for everyone. Everyone selected their favorite facial mask patterns and painted them in color. While comparing the original template, they created their own facial mask patterns. They took photos with their carefully created Peking opera facial mask and had a very meaningful and unforgettable time.
Through the traditional culture experience activity of Peking opera facial makeup, this cultural lecture has enabled senior high school students and their parents to learn more about the traditional Chinese culture and has strengthened their keen interest in Chinese culture.
