On September 30, local time, the Confucius Institute at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México successfully held the Singing Contest and the 2018 Confucius Institute Day celebration in the Mexican National Autonomous Palace. The theme of this activity is “Celebrating National Day and Singing My Chinese Dream” and many students from Confucius Institutes enthusiastically signed up for it.
At the beginning of the competition, the cheongsam show directed by Zhang Rui, a teacher from Confucius Institute, won the audience’s attention. A number of Confucius Institute students dressed in traditional Chinese costumes brought wonderful performances to the audience. Mexican teacher Li Jing gave a detailed introduction to the historical evolution, style, moral and other cultural knowledge of the cheongsam and the Hanfu, which greatly benefited the audience.
At the end of the event, Carmen, Director from ENALLT college of UNAM and Chinese and foreign directors of Confucius Institute presented prizes to the winners. Champion Pedro will also represent the Mexican National Academy of Fine Arts in the second Latin American and Caribbean Chinese Song Contest to be held in Chile. The success of this activity has also further stimulated students’ enthusiasm for learning Chinese, and many students have indicated that they will study Chinese hard and actively participate in such activities in the future.
