On the morning of April 10, representatives of teachers and students from the college of social and behavioral sciences of Northwest University in Seattle visited Beijing Language and Culture University Psychological Counseling Center. Associate Professor Leihua Edstrom, Director of the Ph.D. program in psychology at Northwestern University in Seattle, Associate Professor Nikki Johnson as well as 12 Ph.D. students in counseling psychology had a discussion with representatives of BLCU student counseling center.
The teachers and students discussed and exchanged views on the subjects of study abroad and immigration visitors, LGBT community, trauma visitors and complex family visitors as well as the related research on traditional Chinese medicine, self-care, well-being and cultural differences.
The discussion promoted the professional exchanges between the two universities’ psychological counseling work and researchers, helped BLCU to improve the quality of mental health services and the preparation work in the professional direction of clinical and counseling psychology, and laid a good foundation for Sino-US exchanges and cooperation in the field of psychological counseling work and research.
