On December 12, the 12th Confucius Institute Conference hosted by Confucius Institute Headquarters / Hanban and Shaanxi Provincial People's Government was held in Xi'an.

BLCU won the "2017 Outstanding Confucius Institute Chinese Partners of the Year" title. Confucius Institute at Kansai Gaidai won the HSK Excellent testing centre, "2017 Outstanding Confucius Institute Chinese Partners of the Year", and Confucius Institute at Hokuriku University in Japan won the "2017 Confucius Institute Individual Performance Excellence Award of the Year".

BLCU is an indispensable backbone of the Confucius Institute family and it sponsors 18 Confucius Institutes and 1 Confucius Classroom in 12 countries on 5 continents. In 2017, BLCU has dispatched a total of 185 Deputies, teachers and volunteers to overseas Confucius Institutes and has covered nearly 40 countries in the world, including the countries along the Belt and Road initiative. In 2017 alone, more than 850 cultural events have been held and more than 250,000 people have participated in cultural activities.
