On February 17th, the Confucius Institute at George Mason University opened the engraving experience class. Most of the participants were college students and local residents, who showed great interest in Chinese and Chinese characters.
Seal cutting is an ancient art, it combined calligraphy and engraved as one, mainly for the production of seals. And seal is an unique form of Chinese characters. In 2009, China's seal was selected as "representative list of human intangible cultural heritage". The American students, local community residents who participated in the activities are whimsy, they combined seal cutting with their hobbies and features, thus designing beautiful Chinese characters and patterns, patterns ingenuity, which can be regarded as an innovation.
This is not the first time that George Mason Confucius Institute opened seal cutting experience class, and such manual lessons won the love of the majority. Not only can we get together to experience the profound Chinese culture, but also enhance the friendship between the peoples.
