Recently, Chung-kun, minister of Educational Policy Research of Department of Education, Daegu, South Korea, together with his party, visited the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban, and was invited to visit Beijing Language and Culture University.
Ma Jianfei, the party secretary as well as deputy director of Confucius Institute headquarters/national Hanban, met with the delegation, he welcomed the delegation's visit, and jointly reviewed the achievements in the field of educational exchanges and cooperation between China and South Korea. During the talks, the two sides also exchanged views on the implementation of educational cooperation between China and South Korea, the development of Confucius Institutes and the CPIK volunteer project.
The delegation was also invited to have talks with relevant department heads from the Confucius Institute business department/teacher training center, international cooperation and exchange department and other relevant departments of our university. As the first Confucius Institute teacher training center in China, Beijing Language and Culture University Chinese Teacher Training Center is committed to the cultivation of high-quality Chinese teachers, thus transporting a large number of outstanding teachers for all countries. Minister Chung-kun gave a high degree of praise to our efforts in training local teachers at the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban. He expressed his hope that BLCU would strengthen mutual exchanges and win-win cooperation in the training of teachers and the establishing of Confucius Institutes. During the talks, the two sides also furthered discussed jointly promote local teacher training, the basic education of foreign language and other aspects of cooperation, and achieved fruitful results.
In 2007, Daegu Qiming University and our university have jointly established Confucius Institute. Under the joint efforts of both sides, after nearly 10 years of development, the Confucius Institute at Qiming University has become an important cultural exchange base for South Korea-China cultural exchangs in the region. The Confucius Institute twice won the title of "Advanced Confucius Institute" respectively in 2011 and 2014. On this basis, the visit of the delegation of the Education Department from Daegu will further promote the cooperation between our university and the education community in Daegu, and will build an international platform for foreign language talent cultivation between China and South Korea.
