On November 30, the third “Expressing China” forum, sponsored by Beijing Language and Culture University School of Journalism and Communication and the New Media Research Center and jointly organized by the Network Culture Center of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, was held in BLCU.

The theme of this forum is “Learning from the Future: Cross - cultural Casting of Chinese Discourse.” Scholars and representatives from many universities and media organizations discussed how to cast Chinese discourse that embodies cultural confidence through cross-cultural communication and become the wisdom of all mankind through global communication.

This forum not only formed a certain consensus on how to express China, but also put forward three theoretical and practical domains. First, how should we deal with the tension between Chinese values and “Western universal values”? Second, how to compete for and establish cultural leadership by promoting Chinese culture; Third, how to construct the cross-cultural communication system and practice under the network and social media environment. These three aspects succinctly express the outstanding problems faced in the process of expressing China at present, and at the same time provide new thinking for the practice of cross-cultural communication in China.
