On March 11, local time, at the invitation of Confucius Institute at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, German Sinologist Professor Hans Van Ess held a lecture entitled “Europe and Central Asia-Communication Period of Letter from King John of the Priest (11th-12th Century)” in G016 Classroom of Jemelli Campus in Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The lecture attracted many teachers, students and friends who are interested in the western exchange during this period.
As a sinologist, Professor Ye Han, starting from the combing and investigation of the ethnic groups in ancient China, combined with historical records and archaeological discoveries, expounded the legend of the Letter of Prester John, the priest, which spread in Europe from the 11th to 12th centuries, from an eastern perspective, and introduced the history of the spread of Christianity to the East.
Professor Ye Han’s lecture was detailed and simple, not only the research content was fascinating, but also the research method was instructive. The teachers and students present sometimes pondered and sometimes worked hard.
With the development of world integration and the landing of the “belt and road” initiative, we believe that cultural, economic and trade exchanges between China and Italy, and even among all countries, will become more frequent and the friendship between people of all countries will become deeper. Cultural exchange takes precedence over language. As a promoter of Chinese culture and a disseminator of Chinese, Confucius Institute at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore will hold more activities related to Chinese, Chinese culture and cultural exchange between China and foreign countries and telling Chinese stories in Chinese while doing a good job in Chinese teaching. Please look forward to this.
