On the morning of November 17, President Liu Li met with Mr. Mathias Lafolie, cultural attache of the Swedish Embassy in China, Mr. Kjell Espmark, Former Chairman of the Nobel Laureates in Literature Committee and eminent poet, and Ms. Monica Lauritzen, well-known Swedish female writer and biographical writer.

President Liu Li hoped both sides would step up cooperation in cultural exchange between Chinese and foreign writers and works. He said that BLCU was founded in 1962 and currently had set up 11 foreign languages. On the one hand, it had trained more Chinese talents for various countries and many of the students had become Diplomats to China upon graduation. On the other hand, through the efforts of teachers in various languages, we had introduced Chinese cultures, literary works and China's best writers to the world. The CCTSS, co-founded by the Liaison Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Beijing Language and Culture University, was a public service platform that recommends China's excellent writers, outstanding works and excellent translators to the world.

Before the start of the meeting, Mr. Espumak and his team visited the Chinese Culture Translation and Studies Support Network and the dynamic database of translators of Chinese and foreign Sinologists. They spoke highly of the construction of the database and showed great interest towards both the English and Chinese versions of the database compilation of "Chinese contemporary writer and literature guide". They said they would actively promote China's outstanding writers and works to the world and contribute to promoting Sino-Swiss cultural cooperation.
