On the morning of May 10, Cui Xiliang, President of BLCU, met with the delegation of the University of Bonn, led by Professor Michael Hoch, President of Bonn University.

President Cui Xiliang extended a warm welcome to the visit delegation of the University of Bonn, highly affirmed the academic influence of the University of Bonn, hoped that in the future, the two universities can work together, concise their own characteristics, and make the Confucius Institute in Bonn a model Confucius Institute in European area. Cui also introduced the university alliance based on the platform of Confucius Institute platform and invited the University of Bonn to join the university alliance.

President Hoch expressed gratitude towards the warm reception of Beijing Language and Culture University. He pointed out that BLCU has outstanding advantages in Chinese teaching and the spreading of Chinese culture, the University of Bonn has the confidence to work with BLCU to build the Confucius Institute, at the same time to further promote the two universities in joint education, student exchange, scientific research cooperation and the cooperation of university alliance based on the Confucius Institute and other fields of cooperation.

After the meeting, the delegation of the University of Bonn visited the Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, accompanied by the staff of the Confucius Institute. On behalf of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Ma Jianfei, the deputy president of Hanban expressed congratulations on the establishment of the Confucius Institute in Bonn. Then, President Michael Hoch and deputy director Ma Jianfei signed the “The Extension Contact on the tenure of Guest Professors Between Confucius Institute headquarters in China and the University of Bonn, Germany”.
